Hi

After ablation I was 1 night in hospital, 2 days when I wasn't allowed to drive - but the hospital recommended taking one working week off.

I seem to be "cured" but my local hospital (depite numerous e-mails from cardiologist) didn't get the results of my 7-day ambulatory ECG to them so I'm being kept on warfarin until they have the data to see themselves. Back again in January *sigh*

Hi DBG from memory I was off work for a day and wasn't allowed to drive for a short period, cant remember whether it was a day or two. Its now over 3 months since the ablation and I have been running everyday for the last two months. Mostly easy running with parkrun flat out most weeks. No problems and I'm off the warfarin following a review with Dr Chow. Whilst he couldn't guarantee that the AF has gone for ever, it certainly seems to have returned me to a normal running life and I no longer worry that I am going to go back into AF.

Thanks guys...my ablation now likely to be Dec 22nd so won't miss too much work.

Had my pacemaker box xhanged yesterday - oooo, a little sore but otherwise not stopping me doing too much at the moment :-)

Hi, how is everyone doing. I've managed to run 200 plus miles in both Dec and Jan, and am about to embark on Binks 'Run until you drop' challenge which will see me do 400 plus miles in Feb. I seem to be two thirds of the way back to my best so it looks like the ablation was a success. The only challenge I haven't yet put my 'repaired' heart through is a 24 hour race, but Ridgeway 85 in August will see that challenge undertaken, hopefully without problems. Its sooooo good to be back running regularly and feeling my fitness coming back.
Take care everyone

Hi All... a strange thing has happened. Prior to my pacemaker change it had got to the point where anything more than about 60s of hard exercise would precipitate AF. After my box change (which should not affect AF at all) I find I can pretty much exercise as normal. I still get random AFs but they don't seem to be realted to exercise. I'm evendoing a 10K hill race next week. My first since April. The Doc has postponed my intended ablation.

Glad all seems okay with you guys too - great news - but just take it easy. remember you are on you last heart :-)

ah well, I guess somebody had to be next, and it's me
persistent (24/7) AF since first week of December
seeing cardiologist next week - he's already said an ablation is the way to go, so hopefully can get that booked asap as I'm not exactly enjoying myself...

Hi how is everyone doing. Since my ablation back in July last year I have been able to run pretty much as my body can take and I'm getting back to fitness. The ablation has been a god send and I am now ale to plan my races on the basis that extra training will bring just rewards rather than feeling I will get round pretty much in last place because I'm in AF. If you have any doubts about going for an ablation my experience is very positive.
