So Argie won a competition here on Fetch which got him coaching support by me.

The experienced triathletes laugh as I don't swim, doesn't mean I don't understand it from a coaching standpoint and I am always willing to defer the swimming to people who know better, a good coach uses all available resources.

This thread will hopefully help some of the beginners, all I ask is that people respect that this is to support Argie and lets avoid bun fights and too much stupidity. There are enough threads on Fetch for that already.

The hardest thing about working with someone closely is making it fit their lives, this sometimes causes compromise but such is the life of the amateur.

Argies basic week

Monday run and a swim
Tuesday - long bike and a run (track sessions will be junked for tempo/threshold/MP work. Runs on tired legs will be the norm)

Wednesday - turbo

Thursday - swim

Friday - BIKE/ Run
Saturday - run

Sunday - rest

I will watch, learn and be respectful.

May I ask why the Wednesday session is specifically turbo?

The basic structure is dictated by Argies life and commitments.

What we have to do is make best use of the time he has.

It is possible that Monday may sometimes be bike but basic model

is 3/4 bike
3/4 run
2 swim

The engine is the engine so a big focus is on aerobic training and just trying to get Argie out long enough to stand on the start line confident of being strong enough to ride then run.

Is the Sunday rest day to help him not get divorced or would you normally put a rest day in rather than say and easy swim or something?

on the start line of what though Gobi?

Anything in particular or just to improve his performance at all tri distances?

Are you going to publish distances of each session or time for each session?

Crikey. You got Argie to change his Tuesday? Well done. It's been long run and possible track for years.
