Do you drink it or smoke it?

I was expecting it to have dual use of transmuting lead to gold.

It's nice to watch though - the water starts off below and the coffee grounds up top. The steam makes it way up to the top part until the top vessel is filled with coffee and the bottom one is nearly empty, then you turn off the heat and the coffee drips down to the bottom jug where you pour it from.

I've got a stove top version made by Bodum (it was a £15 bargain at the time, I think prompted by some on here), it comes out at Christmas etc as it is fun to use and the coffee comes out quite nice. Works best from a time point of view if I put v hot water in the bottom flask first of all, as boiling it all from scratch takes a long while!!

Yes, using nearly boiling water to start speeds thing up. This is a 1960s Cona thing.

Looks great Cerrertonia, reminds me of my mum's percolator from the 60's though that was electric and thus not totally see through to hide the heating parts etc.

I used to love the sound of my parents’ electric percolator.

Percolators are a bit different as they re-brew the coffee again and again, this just brews it once and then filters it down for drinking.
