Shiny beans can mean the oil has been expressed coz they've been roasted too much.

Just looked. They’re rather unshiny compared with some of the more expensive stuff I buy.

Certainly a decent brew.

I find two kilo's of beans I potentially won't like too risky too... I am sticking to the Aldi beans I bought and stashed in case good coffee would become unavailable post Brexit... That was a year ago, so I feel the need to use them and replace them :)

I would just like to sing the praises of the Aeropress. In combination with weighing beans and measuring water this has transformed my cups of coffee and I appreciate differences between coffees much more now. Also it is easier to dispose of the grounds in the organic recycling since the puck is much drier than from a cafetiere.

Agreed Steve. Unfortunately both mine and the wife’s are trapped at work due to lockdown.

Incidentally, you can rinse, dry and reuse the paper filters.

I bought a second one for work, but made the mistake of visiting the local grocery shop which was a Polish specialists with a non-standard range of coffees and the coffee I randomly selected from there was certainly not to my usual taste, so I’ve not quite yet got a decent cup of coffee at work.

But I’ve just switched back to using the aero press at home quite a bit as well as my Gaggia. Both make excellent cups that I enjoy most of the time, though I don’t weigh the coffee or time things religiously.

Non-tea drinker here and nowhere to talk about the caffeine bean, so I thought I'd start a thread. ...
