Oooh new peoples for 2024 Welcome to the nuthouse. I used to get lots of niggles/minor injuries but the last few years have been really good since I started making myself do a warm up and cool down on EVERY run. Around 5-10 minutes, it's sometimes a real ballache to do (especially if the weather is rubbish) but it makes such a difference. Usually just a walk before training runs, sometimes a mix of walking then jogging lightly. For a parkrun or effort session, I do a few minutes walking, a few minutes jogging, then some butt-kicks, high knees, side to side drills and finally some short strides. I know this might sound like a real faff but it's so worth it. The one occasion when I cut my warm up (was doing a club run and didn't have much time before the run) I ended up having to stop and stretch as my legs weren't warmed up. Which was a pain! |

Cool downs are generally a half mile walk, again it can be a bit of an inconvenience especially if the weather is rubbish or you're meeting people etc but I stick to it and it helps me.

Feeling glum this evening. Haven’t run for months this year because of PF. Have just got to week 4 of C25K because it seemed to be better. It isn’t. My left heel is sore 😕

Good advice Som ^ For the 700 thread to make a point but not a rule is to take a picture of a BIN at your 700 mile mark & then change your target to something else so others get to the top. I always set my target to 700 as this is the best thread once I get to 700 I reset target after a bin picture. Any questions please fmail rrrcaz |

Boo to sore heels Sarah Som I completely agree about the warm-up before running. The Garmin plan I'm following always starts every session with a 10 minute brisk walk. |

That's such a shame SWoo I got one of these a long time ago and I still use it occasionally: ebay.co.uk I find it really helps.
