There was a time today when I was thinking the weather wasn't so bad and that I might sneak in a short run, even though the plan was for a rest day. Since then the weather has deteriorated rapidly. Might still go though :-)

Afternoon all

Missed loads yesterday and this morning - had to clear all notifications and blogs as head to full of everything.

Had a very long day at funeral yesterday and early start this morning. Think will be in bed a tad early tonight

Meant to do a nice relaxing 5 miles with friend this afternoon.

Turned into a tempo 5k after we stopped for almost an hour to help with a horse stuck on ledge & barbed wire. Just enough time once it was freed for a dash back to car as I had sports massage appointment. Also had something to pick up at opticians and needed to wolf down a sandwich!

Oh dear Kim that sounded stressful. Hopefully we have no such encounter tomorrow.

3.65 miles with Shona. My Garmin played up a bit but I just copied her stats.

I did my run to the coffee meet in just light drizzle - result! I did have to avoid lots of huge puddles though. The place we were meant to meet up turned out to be closed, so we walked to a nearby cafe instead which was actually much nicer! By the time I'd run home I had 5 miles on the watch and although it was even slower than ever, it felt quite comfortable.

At the cafe we were talking about nutrition for older women runners. One of my friends has taken on a PT to get her in the best condition possible for the Boston marathon this year - the last of the six Majors she needs to complete the set - and the advice is that people like us (ie 60+ woman) need more protein than we realise and we should spread it evenly over breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snack and tea. She's also been told to have that protein - a handful of nuts or a slice of cooked chicken - as soon as she gets in from a run.

Does anyone on here follow that routine? I think I'd like to give it a try.

Torrential rain here all day, it's eased now but it's dark and still very wet underfoot so I'm delaying my run until tomorrow and having a glass of wine instead :)

I made it out. Wasn’t the most sprightly of runs but it was a small victory against the weather
