I've been swimming very slowly in a lake. It was heavenly.

I've been drinking cold beer in Valencia.

Have logged some walking but it's not coming through. Plan is a run in the local park in the morning. An unofficial parkrun

You know you can log it as not-a-parkrun, Som? A facility which was started during lockdown, but seems to have been kept going.

Younger Daughter has signed up to her first marathon. Newport, in October. Meanwhile, Elder Daughter is signed up for the 100km Race to the Stones, which she has done once before but this time the plan is non-stop rather than over 2 days. Go girls!

A tad under 13 miles today. Fabulous walk. No niggles, and feel great. Perhaps I should give up running and just walk instead.

7.3 miles run today. Calf sore after 5 so slowed down a lot and walked a bit. Lots of stretching since, and it seems OK. Rest tomorrow though!

I've accepted an invitation from a friend for us to join her and her children, and another family, sharing a house in Cornwall for a mini break in the school hols. She's the friend who lost her husband to Covid. She's renting it for a week and inviting various friends and their families to pop in and out. We're staying 3 nights and she's not asking for a penny (bittersweet consequence of bereavement appears to be affluence). I'm now plotting beachfront runs on Fetch to offset the inevitable meals out and wine drinking, but I can't wait!

Hello all

Emotional roller coaster day here- meeting with celebrant re mums service. Paperwork etc with the that two. Beautiful bouquet of flowers delivered this afternoon from Sarahwoo and another friend. Lovely bottle of grapefruit gin from sister for late birthday which is lush.

Two dog walks done - but dog is still sulking as we didn't take him with us ....

Mandy I hope the celebrant was someone 'on your wavelength'. We were incredibly lucky with the lady assigned/suggested by the funeral directors. She seemed genuinely interested in hearing us talk about Mum so it ended up being a very lovely afternoon of reminiscence while also getting the funeral arrangements settled. She sent me a lovely note after the funeral to say how much she'd appreciated being part of Mum's farewell.

As this is a running site ;-) : I have both cycled and run today! Not much of either, but enough to make me sweat and get my heart rate up.

Mandy - hope the celebrant was good. The two I've dealt with were fantastic, and the session with them (with my brothers & sister) remembering and structuring memories was very cathartic and helpful. Even though they were both very religious, they happily left that at the door and worked to help us and make sure we were OK.
