I'm Schroedingar's traveler this week. I'm booked to Copenhagen on Wednedsay but Iceland is now on the naughty red list for the EU. But it is still yellow on Denmark's list. I'm gonna give it a shot. Risk is I get to the international airport and then have to get myself back to Akureyri to teach online at 0630 on Thursday morning.

Morning all. Up out for a walk early this morning because I have Poppy (my daughter's lab) staying for a week while E is on holiday. Trying to work out how best to fit in some running this week around work and 2 dog-walks a day. Mr W is away with work all week too. But hey, there are worse problems to have |

The triathlon swim is in the old Royal Albert Docks. It’s been redeveloped over the last 35 years or so and is now used for leisure activities rather than shipping. See londonsroyaldocks.com for pictures. The walls are vertical all the way round. Each of the two sections is about 2km long so plenty of space for the wind to create small waves. When the waves hit the vertical walls they just rebound which makes for an unpleasant rowing or swimming environment. |

Gosh, not sure I'd like that! I almost wish I lived somewhere warmer to take up open water swimming. Closest I get is the ocassional Ligurian beach but even that has been 3 years now :'( |

The pool where I was sick has a low water level relative to the walls, so instead of water splashing over into a grid drain or something as it does in other pools, as PH says, the wake or chop caused by swimmers just rebounds. The lane I was in was nearest the wall do the 'swell' was at its worst. One of the most unpleasant experiences of my life.
