Well done JK! Hope you get that Silver standard soon. My own standard is looking a bit sorry at the moment am currently on 64 for this year (had 68 last year and 67 in 2017), hoping I can improve before the end of the year. Did a 2 mile race tonight, which was okay, but slower than expected. Not too disheartened as it was the third race of the week - I felt okay in the first mile, but faded in the second mile. Last day of May so the round up stats have now been collected. |

Oh, I hope this is okay to ask here, but I know there’s a few ultra runners amongst you so thought it may be a good place to start. A friend of mine attempted the Highland Fling in April, but had to stop at 47 miles. She’s been trying to find another ultra later in the year - ideally one that’s a) not too late into autumn as she doesn’t want to be running in the dark and b) isn’t uber-expensive. Does anyone either have any recommendations, or even just some ideas of what websites to look on to find out what races are available? |

Looking forward to the round up ( quickly checks it's not me doing it) Brilliant WAVA ing JK, So useful stuff from Gobi. I'm sure I need to make more of my runs "count". It's easy to just run when really I should have a purpose to the run, such as building stamina or tempo or quality intervals. But I suppose enjoyment is a purpose too, but I could combine enjoyment and an aim more often. |

Jenny - it depends where your friend is based or how far they want to travel, but the blogger Fiona Outdoors has a good list here of Scottish ultras fionaoutdoors.co.uk And there's also a bigger list of UK ones here apex-sports.co.uk Unfortunately a lot fill up quickly but I liked the Grand Tour of Skiddaw, Jedburgh 3 Peaks, Tweed Valley Ultra and the Speyside Way but these may be too far north |

Thanks IanS, that’s really helpful. She’s Cardiff based, I’m not sure if she’s got any restrictions on how far she wants to travel, but she is Scottish originally and I believe still has family there so the Scottish ones may be of interest, but I’ll send her both links and hopefully she can find something that suits.

No problem Jenny - I've done a few of the Scottish ones, and probably know people who have done most/all the others so if your friend wants to know anything about them just drop me a message
