Ooh, and totally forgot - after several months of decidedly sub par racing, I managed by far my fastest 5K of the year (indeed, in the last 8 months) on Wednesday night :-) Was especially unexpected after a difficult HM last Sunday, so hoping it’s a sign of a return of some sort of form

Nice work Jen. I’m currently in bed with a cup of tea. Deciding whether to go to a walk in centre to get my hand checked out after a fall a couple of weeks ago. It’s painful but I can’t be bothered. Or just go for a run.

Mr JK and I did Nant y Pandy parkrun on Anglesey this morning, and can happily say it is absolutely beautiful but essentially a roller coaster. Really recommend it.

A straightforward out-and-back, it starts in a lovely woody park (with actual red squirrels) by a little old church, follows a river upstream to a reservoir, then turns and comes back along the same route. The path is good underfoot, mostly tarmac, packed gravel or boarded walkways. Some very leg-testing little hills in the first k, then the rest of it is mostly gently undulating, and of course, near the end, you have to do the little hills again.

It only started last August, so is still quite small, just 85 finishers today. Mr JK came 11th, but there were a few speedy tourists or he would have done even better. I was 8th woman, 44th overall, very pleased with that as it's not often I get into the top 50! They're expecting it to build in numbers as the summer goes by and more tourists give it a go.

Sounds like a lovely route jabber. I would be distracted by the squirrels though :-) Love a red squirrel sighting.
