17 miles eek is your Mrs training for something specific or just a machine?
I’m doing a 10k trail run with friends this morning a virtual charity thing. Just doing it nice and easy as need to be careful of the terrain. Good luck with your parkrun HS. Happy running everyone.

Yes LL, some 20 mile off road event in a couple of weeks time--a consolation after having to withdraw from a 24 hour race which is taking place this weekend. A modest 4 miler for me this morning and still not up to pace in relation to HR, and it felt tough too! Too bad about Mo, he's pushing against age unfortunately. Martyn Rooney the same.

Good luck with your 10k trail run LL with friends, sounds like it will be fun. Thanks, this morning's forest 5k was slower than last week's, which was on roads.
Steve, I hope your wife does well in her 20 mile off road race, in a couple of weeks time.
Nothing wrong with a modest pace run. Mine on Thursday was little more than jogging.
I agree about the age factor, I think Mo is 38, almost a veteran.
This morning's not a parkrun was 28.43 and max hr 152. I'm on the over 70's runners on FB and there was a poster who did a time trial 5k on a running track in 21.38 which is 6.38 minute miling. This is unbelievable 😲

HS, sorry to disagree with you but 5K in 21:38 is in fact 6:58/ml. The way i did it was: convert 21:38 into seconds; then divide by 3.107; then convert back to min. & secs. - 6:57. 766. Sorry at being so particular!!!

My trail 10k was lovely nice and easy with 3 friends lovely social run over a new route.
Only problem was a sore quad ( never had that before) 6:38 6:58 still quick 🤣 Nothing modest about 4 miles Steve. Good Luck to Mrs S.

Evangel, I didn't calculate the pace myself, I just copied the data that he posted. Thanks for your diligence!
LL, glad that you enjoyed your trail run, but sorry to hear about your sore quad. Was the course very hilly, as hill work can cause tight quads.

It was a little hilly but I felt it the minute I started. It just came on from nowhere.

Evangel, I checked back and found that I had incorrectly copied the pace. Your calculation was spot on!
LL very strange the sore quad "coming from nowhere!"

These paces quoted above are astounding and must be where innate ability has blessed those speedy merchants! Lucky buggers!! I think Mo already falls into the British Masters category hs, which start at age 35. Used to be called veterans too! Once again a great 5k and with a manageable HR too. My even shorter than yesterday run had me struggling for leg energy at 135-145 bpm , something isn't right. I may take a couple of days off. My wife will be pleased to do 20 miles but has no illusions about times since her hip replacement; her days of placing top three in ultras are gone so she's just grateful to be able to run at all. Hope the quad has settled LL.

Steve, I think you may find a couple of rest days to be beneficial.
It's amazing how your wife manages such high mileage, especially after a hip replacement!
This morning's run was very special. 7.67 miles in the forest which was hilly, muddy, wading accross wide streams etc. It was a Club Sunday social run, with about 30 of us, but split into small groups, according to legislation. No doing "A Hancock!" This was followed by a superb full English breakfast (vegetarian for me,") in one of my running buddies garden. This was for raising money for the Portsmouth NHS, and Huntington's Disease. It was good to see so many club members that I hadn't seen for over a year.
