Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

NE, that's a soft reset, which may cure the problem but if there's serious corruption the only way I found to ovecome it was to hard reset which wipes off all data and configuration. A bit of a last resort thing!

From the garmin site....

There are a few instances in which a master reset (or unprompted reset) can be performed on the Forerunner 310XT. All data on the fitness watch will be erased.

To perform the master reset:

Power Forerunner off
Press and hold Enter and Mode buttons
Press and release Power button
Press and release Lap/Reset (watch will power off)
Wait 3 seconds
Release Enter and Mode
The reset on the Forerunner 310XT is only successful if the device finishes powering up, and goes to the setup wizard. Repeat the steps again if the setup wizard does not appear.

Leave the device outside with a clear view of the sky for a minimum of 20 minutes to acquire satellite data once the reset and setup wizard are complete.

Ok, well I have no data worth saving at the moment, so I might give it a go, then delete the .xml file again and re-pair.

I will do it now....

I'm still struggling - I went through all the delete xml file/hard reset routine with my PC and it's still not finding the Garmin at all. I'm on IE9. I had a brainwave this morning and have just tried to add training using my laptop (which I have successfully used previously with this 310XT). Depressingly, no Garmin found.

I see Fetch has actually put a banner on top of Training Upload page to say that Garmin Communicator Plugin isn't working with IE11 (or whatever the latest version is) and "try another browser". I find anything that crashes, doesn't work properly in IE etc. try Chrome or Firefox instead and they usually work. Don't know why I don't just use them all the time! Bloomin Microsoft domination! :-)G

IE is horrible. Chrome for desktops/laptops and Safari for tablets and mobiles.

no, Chrome for tablets and mobiles too. Much better than safari, and it keeps everything in sync
