Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

After weeks of mingy ebay stalking I have purchased a nearly new Garmin310XT huzzah! I have been for a un with new toy but now comes the difficult bit. How do I transfer the data to my Mac laptop? I started reading the manual and immediately glazed over when it offered me a choice between installing on the laptop and a web=based program. How should I know what I want? I just wat todownload runs to something that works. Also, what is the best set up? Do I really need to store lap data? Why does it keep vibrating? Can I change the data on the screen so it scrolls between time, pace, distance etc?

To transfer the data I believe you will need the garmin ANT+ agent for the ANT stick www8.garmin.com

Plug the usb dongle into the laptop, and when the 310xt is close enough it should automagically transfer the data.

The vibrate could be laps or whatever its set to vibrate on, that may depend what the last user had it set up to do. Have a look through the user manual for setting the lap indicator, you should either be able to turn it off, or set it at a massive setting so you never (or rarely) reach it.

The screens should be able to be set to auto scroll, depends how much info you want, the screens should be able to show upto 4 items, so you may fit it all in ine screen. I know the Edge you set to auto scroll. Not overly sure how the 30 does it - mines still charging :)

Depends if it's a FIT file or not. Go to 'training' and 'add training' then there's a link to upload direct from Garmin and that should do it

Once your Ant+ stick is working (and you have the latest version of Garmin Communicator downloaded) you can download direct (once the session has been sent to the Ant+ stick) from the "Do Stuff Quickly" - "Garmin Import" thingy

Anyone had strange HR readings with their 310XT? Here's today's run:

1) - 1m - 9:35(9:35/m) - 149bpm avge - 165bpm max - 126cal

2) - 1m - 8:50(8:50/m) - 173bpm avge - 201bpm max - 127cal

3) - 1m - 9:17(9:17/m) - 205bpm avge - 239bpm max - 134cal

4) - 1m - 9:23(9:23/m) - 233bpm avge - 252bpm max - 133cal

5) - 1m - 9:34(9:34/m) - 235bpm avge - 249bpm max - 67cal

6) - 1m - 9:23(9:23/m) - 234bpm avge - 250bpm max - 73cal

7) - 1m - 9:22(9:22/m) - 238bpm avge - 249bpm max - 81cal

8) - 1m - 9:20(9:20/m) - 238bpm avge - 250bpm max - 78cal

the figures for the 1st mile are probably close to correct but after that it all went mental. This is happening with increasing frequency now, although today's the first time it happened for almost the entire run. btw, it's only 3 weeks old :(

emdee - almost certainly 'movement artefact' So it's registering movements as heart beats. have you done all the usual tricks like wetting both your skin and the strap contacts, and tightening the strap.

Seems like quite a few people have this issue with the HRM on Garmins - more than with Polar HRM's, certainly

Thing is I had a 405 for over 3 years before upgrading to the 310XT and had no problems with that.. am wetting the contacts and all the usual stuff, yes. I've emailed the Garmin support peeps so will see what they say.

emdee, your battery might be close to its end. My OH had the same problem, changed the battery and sorted.

Now an interesting question, with that HR, how can the garmin say you have used 67 cal to run 1 mlie (split number 5)!!!?

My OH 310 seems to also count calories really poorly.
