First and foremost I'm a parkrunner. Our family turned up at parkrun in May 2014 to see what would happen and we never left
Of course we're there virtually at the time of updating this - but we're out running 5k every Saturday all the same. Discovering Fetch in 2015 when I got my first running watch was just fantastic. It's a given that I run because I like the data. However, I also like the competition and social side so did turn to the orange side during my first year online, following the populous crowds, coming crawling back to the Fetch Fold with Lockdown and The PayWall. I am here to stay now though, I even have the t-shirt (well vest and mask) to prove it! Running ... Well, my PB successes were mostly in 2015 and 2016. I moved onto the trails at the end of 2016 and got used to regular stops at stiles, gates and deep mud making full on running seem hard work!! Most recently ... The Marathon Plan.... I decided to aim for London and planned to run a GFA time as close to my 45th birthday (May 2018) as I could, choosing the flat, lower key event of Abingdon Marathon in October 2018. My goal time to qualify was 3:53, and I crossed the line with a big grin at 3:44:48 😊 I had the most amazing time running the event, buddying up with several other ladies all aiming for the magic 3:45 time. I can't ever imagine any other event matching the feeling I had throughout this one, but need to tick London off the list so applied and was fortunate to get in for London 2020 as GFA. As we all know London 2020 didn't exactly happen, but due to the timing of my Marathon Plan, my place for 2021 was conditional to me beating the GFA time again - in the Virtual VLM in October 2020 🤦♀️ With Chippenham's community of runners, parkrunners and my family, in the wind and rain of 4th October 2020 I ran my second marathon and my second GFA time. 2021 will hopefully see the culmination of The Marathon Plan with my third and final 'No Pressure' marathon run at VMLM 2021. Who knows?! Even more important to me 2021 should see the return of parkrun, I can't wait! In the meantime, I have registered on almost every Fetch Game - feel free to invest me, eat my bugs or take my squares, I'll relish the return match 😉 Show More...
