Sportscheck Run Leipzig 5 km sub-25 pacer
Comeback race after being out with the flu for a month in July/August. I had signed up for this sub 5 min/km gig when I was still fully fit and it was basically my marathon pace. Now I was worried if I could even hold the pace, given that it was 26°C in the shade. Based on my experience 2 years ago, I knew that the course was measuring a bit long so I ran a tad faster than the 4:55-57 that I had practiced before. Nailed it in 24:45 chip time for the official course which measured 5.08k on my watch. HR climbed throughout and I was glad I didn't have to run the 10k. My fellow pacer was running alongside me and we finished in 24:55 gun time, the announcer said that it was a very precise job. Legs are a bit stiff now but they'll recover in time for next week.

Thank you, I was quite proud of myself for keeping the pace until the end. HR maxed out where I'd be if I had run this all out, not as a paced run. Luckily, this was the final hot day, it's much cooler now.
