Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

ascoey Well, I guess this is good for the fitness. That hill though was hard the first time... I'll be back next year with another year's running under my belt (I'm still new to this really) as it's a great companion race to the Forest Five.

lildude What a great little race. Very small race over a pretty challenging two-lap offroad route. It seemed if you're not a Reading Road Runners or Sandhurst runner, you're an outcast .

Had a good run and definitely feel the long warm up helped me here. Started off a little too fast in retrospect as I finished the first lap in 3 but with 3 guys on my tail. They took me on the second steep hill on this course and I couldn't catch them.

Still happy that I managed to average less than 4min/km on this hilly offroad route too.

Oh yes and it was a very warm evening. My vest was drenched when I finished.

By my calculations, I finished 6th overall. Not bad.

One change I made from previous races is I did NOT carb up before the race. Instead I ate a large teaspoon of coconut oil and two handfuls of mixed nuts and raisins. I didn't feel like I was missing anything either. The more I experiment and train and live on low carbs, high fat and high protein, the more I think this is the way we're meant to live.
