ktrose1981 A hot day with temperatures reaching 28oC. I took the race steady and really enjoyed it. I didn't want to run too hard as I wanted to enjoy the zoo with Gary for the rest of the day. It was a three lap course but there was so much to look at with the animals and views over the Dunstable Downs that it didn't matter that you passed things three times. The last stretch of the lap was a little dull as you ran round past the steam training crossing, toilets and car park and this was the slowest section for me on each of the laps. It probably would have been a fast course if I had been racing it as it was pretty much flat, with a slight descent in the first half of the lap and a slight incline in the second half of the lap but nothing too noticeable. I kept a fairly steady pace (just under or over 9 minute miles all the way round). I would definitely do this race again. They could have done with showers after the race especially with the heat but they did have baggage storage and changing facilities and plentiful toilets. I clocked 6.27 miles on my garmin, 567 calories burnt and an average pace of 09.10 minute miles.
