Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Buzzards Sis Great race. Very friendly and well marshalled. Nasty hills though, including one about 2 miles long that has to be tackled twice in the 2 lap race. Although, what goes up must come down... Did much better than I thought and tried to stay with the pack I settled down with rather than drifting back. Worked well but I probably ran the first lap too fast as legs began to loose power bit at the end. Still, only speed, not stamina suffered so I am feeling quietly confident at this stage for half-marathons and marathons later in the year.

John66 I'll predict nearer the time if my calf is up to it. Don't bet on me as may do this as a run/walk

Phew

Met BBLB (and boy) at the car park, Andrew 65 at the start and was overtaken by Kimberlina after about 5m. The hills up weren't over-steep but seemed to go on for an eternity. The hills down were shorter, steeper and quicker. Lots of mud and wind made for what I thought was a quite demanding course. Longest distance I've ever done either in training or racing so got to be fairly happy even though the time was slow.

Kimberlina Wow what a hard race, was lovely to meet BooBoo and Matt at the start. I started off slowly as it was really muddy and I didn't want to slip half way down the hill I noticed that my number was hanging off so I stopped to pin in back on which. Managed to get up Ebbisham without much difficulty but was just taking it easy. Got to 3 miles in 33 mins, and then managed to get to 4 in 10, then bumped into JohnL and had a little chat. Managed to see Cameron and Mum just at start off 2nd lap. Noticed that bl**dy number was hangin off again so I had to stop and pin it back on. My legs were really hurting I really find it hard running in mud, by time I reached Ebbisham again I was struggling a bit and had to take a few walk breaks. The jelly babies at the water station were a godsend, a had a couple of those and got a second wind and managed to get a better pace going, zoomed along to mile 9 then struggled a bit up the last hill and had to take a few walk breaks, in front of me was a man who looked about 80 and I thought there is no way I can let him beat me so with about 500m to go I managed to zoom past him and was cheered on by Mr Kimberlina, Mum and Cameron and the finish.

I was very organised in the morning and had put a beef casserole on before I headed off the the race, had that when I got in and then literally collapsed on floor in front of tele and dozed for a couple of hours, I felt more exhausted from this race than when I had done my half marathons. But all in all I am glad I done it.
