Captain Tortoise Tough course with lots of hills and even more mud. Great race I really enjoyed it. I'll definately be back next year. (Probably with some off road shoes though) Unaffiliated 1:52:02 2:00:44 2:00:00 2:01:38 48.29
Cormorant Not exactly undemanding and wearing my nice white road shoes was not the smartest move. Still, the rain kept off and we eventually got to go downhill as well as up (just when you thought it would be all descent, the worst hill was just before 8 miles). Despite thje new Personal Worst I thought anything under two hours would be good on this route, so I'm pleased. This is a good new event, well-organized and with a nice goody bag (and even a beer), so thank you to the charming couple from Live to Run, whose baby it was. I'll be back next year.. gray Well, I'd really have settled for that before the race - thought I'd be out there for two and a half hours at least. Very well put together run - a real challenge but good fun in that 'rose coloured spectacles' kind of way....the marshals all deserve a lot of credit, especially the optimist at half-way whose Cranleigh Tortoise & Hare Runners 1:50:59 1:50:59 2:11:02 49.16

Lalli Garmin time. What a contrast to my first half which was flat, boring and I plodded round. This was really hilly, bit rainy and I didn't plod at all, but boy was it hard work! Mud that I got my (thankfully off-road) trainers stuck in - came up and over my feet, wet woods, chalk and granite trails with a V camber with water running down the colour of blood. Absolutely fabulous! I was really pleased with my time, I thought I'd die over the last 3 miles due to lack of distance training, but took a gel and finished by overtaking a few people! For an inaugural race this was really well marshaled, with plenty of water stations (from which cups were cleared so following runners didn't end up dodging them), traffic was held up for us as we ran out and as we were then on cycle paths for the first and last couple of miles, and off-road completely for the middle 8 or so, traffic-free.
And, the results are up same day!
