Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Grey Badger One of the most picturesque races i have done. Well worth doing. And what another beautifull day it was cool but the sun shone and light breeze. Big turn out and i got caught out at the start got pushed back and couldnt get through near the front. Took half a mile to get past and then i pushed really hard for the rest of the race. was 20th out of 613 and 3rd(m45). A very good day. My time is from when i went over the start line, which took 11 seconds after the hooter went.

eL Bee! Want a time with a 3 at the beginning!!!!!

RACE REPORT
OK - so 10 miles and 1000m of ascent is probably not IDEAL preparation for a 10K race - but given the absolutely phenomenal weather - and the chance to potter about in the Lake District.....
life's too short not to take those kind of opportunities!!!!

It was a gorgeous day - sun - a bit nippy and just the lightest of breezes.
Driving to the start, I thought.... Hmmmmm this is a Cumbrian 'undulating' course. Lovely, it has to be said..... but 'sporting' as a potential PB course

Was pretty sure that th 3*:** time was beyond me on this particular course...... but thought - lets see what happens!!!

Unexpectedly met someone I used to work with 15 years ago - in Wales!!! Small World, eh!!!!!

Off we went - missed the first mile maker, but by the second was starting to feel the effect of yesterday.... by the 3rd mile, and at the point of the turn, the time was OK - but the first half was nett downhill, so the work was yet to come!

Mile 4 hurt - a lot, and was the slowest split by a long way -

Velociraptor Looking for a PB, but I don't think I'll be quite ready for sub-45, especially as it will be preceded by a high-mileage week and I'm hoping to do a little bit of hill-walking the day before.
Oh, dammit, I'll just be looking to blat whatever my bear-buddy's current PB is ;o)

Kev Scone If i ever get some training done, i might get under this time! Unlike the Ravenstonedale red which i missed as had just started with man flu/chest cough i will def be there cheering on even if not racing. *Update* Knee niggly so acting as pacer for SW in attempt to get her round in a PB, ideally under the hour* Update* Full report here later* I have submitted my report to Fetch as part of a news item, my end of season thought, will attempt to post a link on the thread once its been uploaded :-)

Stepford Wife Under an hour would be good. Was slow last year due to domestic discussions about the weather but she's got more clothes this year.

Aaarrrgh! People are betting! Thank you to all who have shown such confidence - all I can say is I'll give it a go and we'll see what happens! At least the forecast is better than it's been recently.
*update* Not quite under the hour but still a big chunk off the pb and all on an undulating course. All credit must really go to Kev Scone who paced me and made me keep going when all I wanted to do was stop and cry! Thank you Kev - at least you get a few points back. And we did the first 2 miles at 9:15 pace which I think is faster than I've run before. Shame I couldn't keep it up for 6 but sub-10 minute miling makes me very happy and probably quite stiff tomorrow. Great weather too so the lovely scenery was at its best, not that I really looked that much. It really is a nice race is this one. And yay for Kev Scone from t'wife as well.
