I wouldn't like to second guess US libel cases at all. I don't know enough of the way their laws work.

I had seen one analysis though that he's suing for more than the entire chess industry is worth though, so in terms of valuation he's probably way off.

Anyone else just watch the end of the World Rapid Champs?

Very exciting final round with the usual result.

I missed this but watched the 960 champs and also the chess.com speed chess champs. Nakamura won both.

Yes, I caught quite a bit of it (and the 960 and SCC before that). I'm checking/sorting my Inbox in the mornings so I've not always been able to follow it too closely though. I must admit to not knowing much about Keymer or Artemiev before this championships, it was good to watch them in action.

Carlsen took the best advantage against weaker opponents as you'd expect and Caruana found his stride with 4 straight wins later on. It's a really good format, not quite as random as the blitz.

Anyone following Tata Steel? I've been tuning in and out, there have been quite a few slow games and draws as you might expect but happened to be watching when Anish messed up his game against Carlsen with 18. Ne5

It puzzles me that the subsequent analysis doesn't pick it out as a key moment although to me was clearly a pivotal point in the game. Looking fo

I had the benefit of seeing an analysis for that game (I think, there were four in the recap I saw) but could only remember the first move in that position.

Been trying to avoid getting sucked into the Tata Steel thing but I did see Magnus just lose his 2nd in a row, which is a bit of a novel experience for him.

He drew today; nice interview, you forget that as much as playing the board, at this level there's a psychological element to the moves you make.

As an aside, I am loving listening to IM Houska on the chess.com commentary these last two days, she just has a wonderful clear voice!
