I start with SOARE. If there are no hits I go with CHILD next

I have a panel of starter words like Plate, Slate, Spear ( I have about 10 of them) which cover a range of popular letters and the two most common vowels and E at the end. When I get a zero hit first go I then try choir. I do sometimes start on Peach, Beach and in fact tomorrow I might try Teach as thats a good one I havent tried.
The problem is if there is no A or E but I hit another letter, finding a suitable word

I'll often use CATER or CHEAT. I like using FETCH. I try and think of a new word each day instead of getting into a rut, and I am prone to the gamblers fallacy of avoiding letters that came up recently.

I used to start with ATONE until it was the word of the day and I got a oner
Like Chrisity I now use STARE, I did try SNARE but I wasn’t a fan of it.
If STARE comes up with nothing then I usually play MOUND as a second play.
I also like to play a second word with CHxxx in if I can if I’ve only had a vowel come up on my first play

I based my starter STARE on an analysis of 130 Wordle answers. If someone with a better grasp of spreadsheets/programming than me (it's most of you) I think it might be interesting to know what is the number of times that letters occur in each position for all the past answers.
For the starter letter, out of 130, the most common were S 23, C 15, T 12, F 10. Only 1 E, I, Q.
Second letter O 23, A 20, H 17, R 15
Third A 20 I 17 (as many as in the other 4 positions combined), O 15, U 11
Fourth N and E 15, R 12, L 11.
Fifth E 29, T 16, Y 15, R 14.
Of course if a letter occurs in the Answer, it reduces the chance of it being chosen in future.....
I should have used SOANE but as far as I know that is only a famous Architect or a furniture maker.

I’ve always used ADIEU as my starting word, but do occasionally wonder if it’s already been the word of the day and I’m depriving myself of a possible “1”

I (usually) use EARLY as my first guess and as sometimes that doesn't give any green or yellow squares I often then use QUOIT

Early on I changed my start word each day, then settled on CATER. After that got me a hole in one, I anagrammed it to REACT and have used that ever since. If it blanks I go with SPOIL next.
Looking at iRicey's stats one day instead of working, I concluded I'm not as good as I think I am (in terms of my average score compared to everyone else) and briefly thought about changing start word to improve performance. Have not done so yet...
The one thing I did get from the stats though, is that the word is never a plural of a four letter word (e.g. CAVES), so I have stopped putting S at the end when I'm searching for hits.

Exactly so Fitz - which is why I was surprised lots seemed to be flummoxed by CLASS recently; once you know the final letter is S then the most likely option for the fourth is also S.

My starting word is always NEATH. I've occasionally considered changing it to INSET.
