Thanks for the reassuring comments! I'll see what the vet says at our 9month adolescent health check up in July, I think dental care is on the list of things they discuss. I can't imagine doing the brush/toothpaste thing...

I have never attempted to clean any of my dog's teeth....and I've had eight dogs so far and none have ever had to go to the dentist.

My dog has a dental chew every morning and his teeth are in great condition at 8 years old.

cleaning Ralph's teeth is never going to happen! this stuff was recommended to me - and it seems to have cleaned his teeth quite well and his breath is sweeter (unless he's found something revolting to eat) no idea how it should work, but been quite impressed viovet.co.uk |

That looks interesting. I think I shall give that ago as Dexter is at risk of gum disease.

A couple of deer stories from this morning... Flossie and I were very surprised to see a deer running at great speed across the playing field this morning. We sometimes see deer in the quieter fields but not here. Flossie thought about chasing it for about half a second but then just stood and watched it. Unlike a cairn terrier who, though miles behind, was very determinedly giving chase and ignoring all commands to stop. I was quite amused - BUT After our walk Floss was due at the vets for the 2nd part of her lepto booster. While we were there, a dog-walker came in with a lovely grey whippet in a very sorry state. He and another whippet had chased a deer on the hill, across a busy road. The other whippet had been killed and this one badly injured. I'm very glad Flossie's instinct to chase was so quickly suppressed - by her. |

How very sad LD. We don't see too many deer around our way, although there are some. I know Wanda would do exactly the same as those whippets too. It's one of the reasons why I keep her on the lead in certain areas because even a couple of large fields between us and the road may not be enough. However I guess we can never be exactly sure that our dogs won't run into danger when off the lead, however unlikely we may believe that to be.... I hope the drivers involved in that awful incident weren't hurt either |
