Have fun with George, Sarah, hope he behaves himself!
I have dreams of being able to take our dog hill walking one day... We need to crack the village first. He still needs carrying the first 5 minutes until he's away from the house, then it's stop/start/drag the ret of teh way round - until he recognises that we're nearly home then it's whippet pace the rest of the way! He's a strange dog really.

lol at Charlie! My previous dog used to drag me back to the car once she realised we are anywhere like a mile away from it! I did some of my best mile times that way! We've been out for another walk and survived. Hurrah!

Alice - would using a 'long line' help with Charlie perhaps - if it is safe to do so? We are lucky to have an open green space near our house and we are on a very quiet road, so if Wanda refused to walk anywhere I would walk to the end of the long line and stand with my back to her (sometimes for quite a while!!!) until she worked out that she wasn't going to win that one and came with me.

I love the fact that over time all of us have stood ignoring our dogs.... (sometimes for quite a while!!!)

I use a flexilead (5m) usually, there's quite a lot of traffic but there are patches where it's safe enough to give him a bit more freedom. How long is a long line? As far as ignoring him goes, it's a case of who blinks first! He can lie there for quite some time...

Part of the training I;ve been doing with Jet has involved ignoring him. I can't stop Mr from leaving things lying arund where Jet can get at them, and I can;t stop Jet from attention-seeking by picking them up! But last night I had a minro win when Jet picked up a brichure

Part of the training I've been doing with Jet has involved ignoring him. I can't stop Mr from leaving things lying around where Jet can get at them, and I can't stop Jet from attention-seeking by picking them up! But last night I had a minor win when Jet picked up a brochure, and instead of chasing him to get it back we both looked at the ceiling. It was hard not to giggle when the dog kept marching to and fro in front of us holding the brochure up and wagging his tail, waiting for an opportunity to start the game of resource-guarding and growling. Eventually though he got bored and put the brochure down, at which point he got lots of praise and fuss. Today he has walked past the little table without looking for something to steal. One day, one win. Onwards and upwards
