I don't put dog's name on either.

She is still here but being a little sh*t, we have a training session this afternoon which will be 'fun' I've a nasty feeling the muzzle may come out and I really don't want that but know it may be the way forward. :(

Was so on the verge of loosing my temper with her yesterday.

We're still having problems with Charlie biting, or rather grabbing bits of clothing and hanging on for dear life. He's started to growl when he does it now too. I think it's meant to be playful - his tail is still wagging - but I don't want him to do it. The trainer's suggestion of putting him in another room doesn't seem to have helped at all. very frustrating and a bit worrying.

I don't think this is odd or worrying, Alice - annoying and occasionally even painful - but really nothing unusual in a young pup. You have to keep up with the ignoring behaviour you don't like and rewarding 'your' alternatives when they're taken up.

He may be getting his grown up teeth of course? I can never remember exaclty when things happen.

D2 is hanging on in there in a whirlwind of teenage tantrums and challenges. Bloody tough with a big mind-of my-own dog! You'll get there D, you know you will. xx

I will but only if I can control myself!

As usual its about training the human to help the dog understand.

Timing is not good for me as its bonkers here with people who are obsessed with talking about their wedding........... smiles...... jam jars you say? Yay!

One of the benefits of having a small dog is that I'm confident I'll always be in charge - I can prise open his teeth and physically remove him from the scene if necessary. And yes, I'm sure it's partly at least to do with teething. I'm full of admiration for those managing big strong dogs with big strong teeth.

I'm still reading through the thread - page 630 now! The thread "puppies" are around 2 years old. It's like reading a story book - wondering what the characters will get up to next. What happened to Tav and Teddy, and Jangle and Meg...why didn't Sharkie end up with a second dog...how did Red Squirrel's dog walking business pan out...??? It's addictive reading! The frustrating part is, of course, not being able to join in with the discussions, arriving about 2 years too late!

Honestly, Alice, things do improve! There were times when Flossie was a puppy (as she relentlessly ate her way through the kitchen sofa for example) that I began to wonder if we'd been wise to get another dog, but now she is mostly delightfully laid back and untroublesome and I wouldn't be without her for anything.

I know the insurance is expensive but personally I think it's worth it for peace of mind. With a bigger dog bills can be substantial even for relatively minor procedures.

Yes, there's certainly money to be made in small animal veterinary services LD! Thanks for the reassuring "it will get better"..,
