It was very funny - too much to write about here, I keep meaning to blog it. The Jack Russell - Chalkie, and more particularly a hell fiend of a dachshund pup called Rio kept on and on at Jess. She quickly got some confidence and gave as good as she got. all good puppy fun of course and the vet nurse said she was actually being very gentle with the little bastards - but when she had Rio by the neck me and Raffo considered making a swift exit without her. ;-)

My next dog is going to be a dachshund - you have to admire their attitude.

Is anyone else having trouble convincing their puppy that even if it's raining, outside is where they do their business?

Flossie is 16 weeks old and HUGE compared to when we got her at 8 weeks (yes , we know she's got a lot of growing still to do!) but from day one she has resisted "hurrying up" (our key phrase :-) ) if it's raining. She will go out, loiter about, then come in and promptly wee on the kitchen floor. If it's not raining she rarely wets indoors now - mainly if she's been playing and gets caught short.

Any tips??

We were shell shocked after adopting small dog puppies after the calm life of our previous Golden Retriever :-0

lazydaisy Hmm, more of a problem with Jess asking to go outside as a trick.... she gets to escape the kitchen, and then enticed by kibble to come back in. It's a win win situation thinks Jess. Just off out to enroll her in grown up dog school. More puppy talk later please.

Sharkie, there is a noise I make if chops is doing something I disapprove of. It's like a sharp short uuuhhh, a doggy trainer told me it is the noise a mother makes to her puppies to correct them. It stops her in her tracks, not sure if you can Google the noise. It even makes other owners stop and pay attention.

Thanks roz, I will try uuuhhhh. There must be the perfect dogtastic sound that's just like mother makes - but I have yet to perfect it...

I have tried growling, acking, aaaaa-ing, eeeking, snarling and generally just yelping and screaming with pain. Most noises seem to inflame Jess' desire for violent play. I have read that GSD puppies are commonly known as Land Sharks - which given my nickname I should thoroughly approve of. However I am more a Pathetic Shark out of Vizz.
