Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm so immune to poo now...having got twins approaching 5, one who still has bowel issues. Chucking a dog with dodgy guts into the mix barely makes a ripple in my poo-drenched life!

Hope Arlo is OK though.

Hope Arlo is ok and glad Chester is ok.

We saw the vets on Friday as Albie was still having loose poos (some with blood and mucous). She said it was most likely a virus - this type of thing is common at the moment, he was the 5th she’d seen that day. If not settled by Monday to come back and they’ll test for giardia. Regarding blood she said a bit is ok and not something to worry too much about.

He seems better and poos are soft but more normal so 🤞🤞
He’s on easier to digest kibble and probiotics. The only issue with the kibble is that the daily allowance is half that of his normal kibble so he thinks he’s being starved and is food pestering all the time. He keeps bringing me his kongs or going to the door of the utility room (where food is kept). I’m already feeding him a bit over as I don’t think he’ll put on weight in a few days and he is a skinny whippet. I use food to help him settle (e.g. a bit in Kong) and also for training so it’s hard and I’ve not been giving him his usual chews (again help occupy).

So we’ve been quite frustrated here!

Maybe I've forgotten but it does sound as if you're all having a lot of unlucky experiences with your puppies. It will get better, I'm sure!

I always remember Kipps always had dodgy poops when he was younger - whippets tend to have smaller more sensitive stomachs! As he got older he ended up able to eat anything so maybe it's just a puppy thing with Albie.

With Luna we were still having trouble with loose stools (not uncontrollable, normal schedule) so I made the decision last Sunday to put her back on a raw diet to see if it will sort out her immune system. Since Sunday she has gone from 3 mr whippy poops a day to just a morning perfect poop. Fingers crossed it's agreeing with her - just need to get some weight back on now!

Arlo attempted 6 poos this morning. One was OK, the rest progressively worse. The final one really wasn't good and not sure what was in it, but it was something that shouldn't have been.

Moving him on to rice and chicken for a bit.

Also starting a new project to make him a wooden crate as he doesn't like the metal one.

He just bit us both.

I was upstairs and heard my partner shout. Went down and he had gone for her twice. He had thrown up and she had tried to stop him eating it. I walked in, hadn't done anything, and he jumped and bit my hand. I hadn't even gone close to him or anything. Distracted him with treats and got him into kitchen. We cleaned it up and he has settled again.

He is always a bit grumpy in evenings, so we avoid doing things we know he doesn't like and just let him decide if he wants to be by himself or with us. But this was a proper bite.

Not sure if it's cause he isn't feeling right, or what but its really thrown my partner.

That sounds really tough Roberto.

I imagine feeling under the weather would certainly increase his stress/arousal and make it harder to tolerate stuff he would normally tolerate. Hopefully he’ll start feeling better soon.

Albie can be pretty bitey in the evenings. He’s whining in the crate after I put him in following a bit of a tantrum - he was barking and biting at me because I told him to stop pulling up the rug. I reckon he’s tired. He disagrees! He also wants to eat food ALL the time.

I expect it’s connected with him not feeling himself at the moment. There’s something called Cocker Rage Syndrome though - my friend’s spaniel was diagnosed with it.

Skye snapped at me when I went to check on her when she had a small vom this morning. I suspect it's to do with feeling crap for Arlo, or at least I hope that's what it is.

I hope things get better.

when Hector vomits he gets aggressive when we try to stop him eating it. It really is the only time he has shown any aggression at all. Can't understand the desire to eat vomit....
