Ralph and I had a reasonable night's sleep on the sofa.
He can drink without throwing up but won't eat. Back at the vets for more fluids and further obs. The vet is a bit uncertain, as the kidney markers indicate a very poorly dog who would have been showing signs of decline for a while, so is leaning towards an acute kidney injury - either a bug or the Metacam. For some reason, she's not blaming the meds straight out, despite it being a known effect on the label. Either way, she seems reasonably positive, so I feel a bit better.

I'm glad to here things are looking more positive for him RH. Is the vet the same one who prescribed the Metacam in the first place - in which case I wonder if they have a 'corporate policy' on what to say in circumstances when a patient presents known side effects. I had a real struggle with our vets over a particular make of jab that they routinely use when Wanda was violently sick after every time she had it - on the last occasion her jabs were due I insisted on seeing the head vet at the practice and specifically asked for a different make of that jab to be used - and surprise surprise Wanda was fine that time. But of course is was nothing to do with the previous make of jab she had been having, again despite it being a known side effect when I looked into it. Hope Ralph is soon back to full health.

The vet who prescribed it said if he's sick don't give in any more and bring him back, so I think if she was sure it was the Metacam she'd say so.

Ralph has just eaten a teeny tiny bit of food. This is the first time since Tuesday evening. He spent Thurs and Fri daytime at the vets on a drip having endless (expensive) blood tests - but coming home at night. He went in for a check this morning, another anti-emetic shot and to be weighed. He's lost ~2kg and he wasn't overweight to start with I've cooked chicken and rice but he wouldn't touch it - but he's just eaten some dry-fried and drained beef mince. Which a terrific relief. Not sure what will happen tomorrow when the anti-emetic wears off, back at vets on Mon to repeat the bloods and *if* he's improved enough get a referral to get his knee operated on. I'm exhausted.

((Rosehip)) what a worry. Not surprised you're exhausted.
