Ralph sat in the garden and watched the pub's fireworks for a while - then he got bored and took himself to bed to sleep

Tussock was very agitated last night but is nicely chilled tonight with me on the settee. A six mile walk this afternoon might have helped

Floss also stood on our decking and watched the display from the nearby Scout hut. Completely unfazed, I'm glad to say.

My two are thankfully ignoring/snoozing through this evenings fireworks too. The Labrador could sleep through an earthquake, but can hear the sound of any food wrapper being opened anywhere in the house.

Rory doesn’t like fireworks. He lies at the top of the stairs with his ‘RSPCA face’ on. I’ve persuaded him into bed with me to watch The Apprentice though, and he’s fallen asleep. I might write to the BBC and tell them about the soothing effect of Alan Sugar.

Wanda likes a good old bark at every firework she hears, and when the village fireworks display is essentially at the bottom of our garden and sounds like World War 3 this can be a little tiresome. However a combination of the electric fire being on for longer than usual, a filled hoof, and Strictly on REALLY loud meant all was well in our house!

We were half an hour behind with Strictly but had to abandon fast forwarding through the waffle as the silence of the fast forward meant fireworks were more easily heard!
