Both Cookie and Phoebe have had bee/wasp stings. Cookie has had bee and wasp. He went quiet and wobbly legged so we stuffed piriton inside him. Phoebe went a bit bonkers and didn't have a full blown bad reaction she certainly was bothered by it. The vets advise giving them a piriton if the reaction was mild, which although worrying Phoebs reaction was mild to what could have happened. Both will happily eat spiders.

Wanda eats spiders and tries to catch flies so far luckily she has not caught a wasp or bee and she is getting less interested in flies unless they are right at her head height - the effort of jumping up to catch them now is a bit too much to be bothered with!

Rory loves wasp-bothering. The other day I thought he might have been stung, but he didn’t cry or seem bothered. Came home later just as the dog walker was delivering him back, and one side of his lip was all swollen. He looked ridiculous, but was entirely unaffected by it.
On Saturday evening I looked up and he was chasing a HUGE spider across the floor. It ran under the sofa, and he spent the next half an hour scrabbling and barking in an attempt to get it to come out. Eventually he got really cross, and peed on the corner of the sofa. Which is massively helpful, obviously. I am sending him back to Spain.

Luna the loopy Labrador loves flies and spiders and I have caught her bounding after the odd butterfly as well.
Wasps, on the other hand, she tends to leave alone, probably because Mrs Marchog flaps about so much.

We have a visiting dog here today. For many people this may not sound like much of a deal but for us it is a big, big, deal because - of the few people we know for whom we might be the obvious go-to people to look after their dog for a day, most are Staffy-ist and apart from that being a hurtful (and largely unjustified) opinion of Wanda it's more hurtful that people who know us very well should think that we are not responsible enough or capable of keeping their dog safe should there be any reason to do so.
Anyway some good friends are having a day and evening out today so Teazle is here. I will try to post some pictures if I get a chance to take any. She's been here about 2 hours and has stopped gazing at the front door for her owners now! The two had a game of chase when she arrived but Wanda is now asleep in my study with me and Teazle is (I think) in Wanda's other bed in the living room. Teazle is also a rescue dog from Romania I think and has a lot of worries about going for a walk. Hopefully Wanda will be a calming influence on her though when we do take them out! There may well be more posts about this later!

I’m sure Teazle will have a whale of a time and Wanda will look after her wonderfully.

Aww, Teazle, looking for her owners.
I’m sure Rory would like to spend the day with Wanda, BBL. He really likes girls, and last time he was away apparently fell in love with a large and slightly ‘tricky’ female GSD. In fact, since he woke me up at 3.58am this morning running around barking at something invisible and is currently in my bad books, could I drop him off this evening? Ta.

Son2 is discovering the joys of owning a Labrador puppy... a friend was looking after the two dogs at son2's home yesterday while they were both at work. She left an hour or so before son2 got home. In that hour, Polly found and ate most of Cooper's bag of dog food. She then threw up of course.
When son2 had cleared up, taken the dogs out and returned home, Polly jumped onto the kitchen sofa and started digging in the corner of the cushions. Investigation revealed more eaten-then-upchucked food hidden down the side of the sofa
And to complete the delight further investigation revealed yet another stash of hidden vomit down the side of their sitting room sofa too

Well done, Wanda! (and you too, of course, BBL ) George is very inhospitable if any other dogs come into the house (ours or Mother's). He guards everything, barks a lot and gets very stroppy. It's a bit of a nuisance now that we have Poppy in the family too because it would be very useful to be able to have them in the same house at times. Maybe he'll mellow. He's much more tolerant of Poppy when we're out walking than he was 6 months ago.
