I am in draw for first time can someone give me potted rules - is it number of squares visited, number of times through a square or both or something else?

I enjoyed the week Little Nemo. It was fun ‘chatting’ with you. Good luck to us for the week ahead!

Seren - run/cycle/walk around the grid. Doesn’t matter if you went through a square 7 times or once, it counts the same - as long as it is at least one more than your opponent.
A few bit of tactics - do you repeatedly cover an area to make it safe or go on wide ranging jogs/rides but leave yourself exposed to a counterattack.
You can move the square at most once every 7 days. This can help to bring unreachable squares into play. It also doesn’t need to be your home in the middle. If you always run Eastbound, position the square so it covers your route

Well done EdJ - I concede - I see you logged another run this morning - I don't think I can get back from that so will save my run for this weeks games... Good competition we only have a few uncovered squares.
Hi serendippily - welcome - yes both of those - you should be able to see some vague guide to the right of this page?

Well played this week JCB and thanks - you giving me a sound kicking enabled me to go for my longer run yesterday without having to think about the game so I went off-grid along some lanes I haven't visited in ages. The change in scenery was great - if more than a little wet
i am rapidly reconciling myself to the fact that my 'summer ranking' - when I can use the light evenings to run the local trails (I guess about a third of my grid is road - mostly unlit - a third trails and a third inaccessible) - is going to be somewhat higher than my winter ranking. Not sure how long the adjustment is going to take to be reflected in the tables but it will be fun seeing how long I can hang on.

Welcome serendippily,
Swimming in a square nets 4* points for that day. Running in a square nets 2* points for that day. Walking in a square nets 1* point for that day. Cycling in a square nets 1* point for that day.
* = if you do this activity on this day, before your opponent, you score double for that activity.
Total points in a square for that day is the accumulation of all activities, from midnight (London time) to midnight the next day. The exception to this is for Monday when the round ends and starts on midday (London time). If you do an activity in a square more than once on the same day then effectively only the first occurrence will count.
The match score is calculated by current ownership of squares.
If you have more points in a square than your opponent then you own that square.
If you have the same number of points in a square as your opponent then it shows up as 'cake' designating an equal square, or blank if no one has scored in that square. No one owns such a square.
Add up all the squares you own gives you your match score. Similarly for the squares your opponent owns.
Note that the points in a square continue to accumulate until the end of the week. For example, a run on Tuesday netting 4 points (being the first to run on that day in that square), and then on Wednesday netting 2 points (being the second to run on that day in that square), will mean you have 6 points for that square. If your opponent only did that one run on Wednesday for 4 points (being the first to run on that day in that square), then your score of 6 would give you ownership, and your opponent would need 2 points for that square just to even it up.
Hopefully I have everything correct and it is understandable. If not, question/correct away.

Thanks CumbriAndy! Great match! I had the same idea and risked a long run on Sunday mostly off-grid. Sounds like it did us both some good not to concentrate on WSW for a while.
I can definitely see that there will be seasonal variations. And when people are in different hemispheres it adds to the complexity too.

I'm back in the lead 68-56 after I had public transport issues this morning and decided to just take a circuitous route in!

56 minutes to go. I wonder if my opponent will log any training at 11:59?
