Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Could also be that if someone hasn't visited the WSW pages for X* weeks, they don't get put into a match. Removing those potentially non-competing players could push the average up.

*can't remember.

Increased WFH and lockdown changes must have had an effect?

BarefootEm, I've seen your tale of woe and I'll raise you ! I took my car for MOT at 8am, followed by a very wet ride home across my grid. Upon arrival at home, cold and damp, I discovered I had recorded it as indoor cycling !!!

On a positive note, my car has passed. I'll just have to take my gloves off before selecting 'ride' on my Garmin for the return journey.

On the second week of multiplayer I think I've figured out you need to run, walk, cycle and, ideally, swim around the same N squares daily. Where N is a number greater than 255/(number of players in the round). All the while hoping that nobody else has picked the same set of squares as you to run, walk, crawl around each day.

I think I've also figured out I might not be suited to WSW multiplayer 😆

I'm not. My 1:1 game relies on me choosing five different routes to/from work over the week so as to cover a wide range of squares. I have four different routes on the bike, and an off-road route for running. If I manage to avoid taking the car to work that week, then it all works well.

However, that tactic spreads me too thinly for multiplay, as I only concentrate my efforts on the few squares that each of those five routes have in common at the beginning and end of the journey.

Multiplayer is an interesting beast that's for sure!
