jacdaw Dec 2014 11:09am, 5 Dec 2014 1,185 posts	0 jacdaw That "sandshoe" or "sand shoe", an alternative name for plimsoll (or plimsole), is not used everywhere in the UK. But it is used in Australia and New Zealand. It seems to be only used in the north east of England, and possibly Scotland.

I wonder if that's why Graeme Obree had such a bad time in the Irvine Valley. I've never gone for his tale of being bullied because his dad was the polis.
