At my Church (also RC) you get bread (a communion wafer) and wine at every weekend mass. It doesn't have to be a special occasion. I only have the wine on special occasions tho as I find it really heady.
Today I have learnt the young naive school-kid from Queer As Folk has something of a stellar US TV career in Sons of Anarchy and has been cast in Sam T-W's film adaptation of 50 Shades etc.

This was start of academic year mass. The words to the hymns were also slightly different to the Church of England versions, which was very confusing!
