I thought SDW and NDW were 50 and 100 milers. Didn't know there was a 30. Just went back and read your blog from G2E 2010. It's quite funny actually. G

No, yer one in "the real world". Lots of detail about pre and post race drinks! Can't believe I've run that race now. I remember thinking how bonkers you were at the time doing it! So, West Highland Way anyone. Nice training blog Red Wine Runner - a great 30 mile, hilly, 8 hour day out in there. I must get out and do some tougher hill stuff. Not this week though. Just an easy 6 or 8 Saturday and 10 or 12 Sunday with club. Still recovering. But back on it the weekend after. I've just scared myself reading the lovely Phil Humphries blog/WHW report ( westhighlandwayrace.files.wordpress.com if you're interested ). He's got a WHW time I would love, is slower than me at 10K, half and mara, but... he's got loads more ultra experience and better times and he trains huuuugggeeee! I'm feeling inadequate! G |

You can't control what everyone else is doing just concentrate on yourself and you will be fine. Looking at the mileage you have put in this year some people will be panicking think they haven't trained enough in comparison. It's all about what the body can handle for the individual to get you to the start line feeling fresh (not over-trained or borderline injured). I'm still an ultra pup (just done one) but have trained a lot with John K and learned a lot in the process, stay positive and it will all be good! |

Well done HappyG on a superb G2E run, you are going to be fine, I keep telling you! Great news M1nty that you are running well. Hope everyone else's training is going well for whw race. Can't believe how close it is. I loved the training run RWR blogged about although I thought I was a goner for the Fling when I tripped up on a stone, didn't fall but my ankle ached for the last few miles. I couldn't put any weight on my left foot for the rest of the day. shanksi looked after me and I did the RICE thing and the next day it wasn't too bad. The timing has been OK because we came down to my sister's in Yorkshire and have been having lots of nice walks with the family. I'm planning to do Peter Pan parkrun as my next run. My mileage is quite low but I've certainly been up plenty of hills lately. |

Not so much so about the mileage when you're out in the hills for long time. And walking is superb training. Happy holidays
