Lol. Yip, that's the goal. There, I've said it! Fling and and maybe Cateran 2014 (any other recommendations for the build up?) then try and get to the start line in 2015 (obviously I need to get in to the ballot and keep my fingers crossed. I think I should qualify on marathons done, plus Devil in 2010 and Speyside and GO33 this year?)

I like a long term goal. But seriously, I think I need at least a year to commit to it seriously, so 2014 was never going to be an option.

Would be amazing to have you to lead a support team sants. Seriously, would you be up for it? June 2015, HappyG's turn?! Are Joops and/or Siouxsie doing WHW 2014? :-)G

2015 is my plan too, HappyG. Fling next year and the Great Glen Way if is goes ahead, and Glenmore 12 or 24 are my goals for next year in preparation.

Ah, well, we'll all be on The Way on The Day, which will be cool sants. I thought Joops was looking at 2014, but I must have got that wrong. Are you wanting to improve your time *even more* in 2014 then? How's tonsil pus going? Hope you're feeling ok.

No probs about not being able to crew in 2015. I've got plenty of time to get volunteers - and I think I should have a few buddies that I can call on! One more year of crewing in 2014. Might be on Bonio's crew, if she's still looking.

RWR, excellent, one of the great things about WHW and Scottish ultra scene generally is that you tend to know about 50% (or 95% in whwrunner and santa's cases!) of the community! See you there (hopefully I'll make it to start line!) :-)G

I totally agree HappyG! I was having a conversation with mrs s about this on Sunday - I was wondering how much differently I would feel about preparing for some random 95 mile event in England in 2015, or even if I chose to do a random English 50 miler vs the Fling next Spring - would I enjoy it as much? Would I find the desire to train through the tough times and race the dark bits on the day if I knew there weren't so many people counting on me/waiting for me/wishing me well along the way? I know all ultras are chatty and welcoming everywhere, but there is something so special about the Scottish scene. I doubt I would have jumped in to all these long races so quickly had I not been welcomed into the fold with such open arms.

I really want to do one of the big American 50 milers at some point soon; it will be interesting to see how an ultra feels when you know NOBODY out there at all.

Quite right RWR. Lol susie - bairn7, who has done a fair few US ultras now, including the crazy hot ones, posted a great pic once of a sign on a run in the Rockies in California, I think that said "Caution: mountain lions known to be in this area" or some such. I mean, actual OMC! Really, midges are bad, I know, but even the big ones are unlikely to have your head off! :-)G

@Redwinerunner - Next year's Great Glen Way will be on the 5th July, starting at 1am. We've started prep for it and it will definitely be going ahead as a proper race for circa 100 runners in the first year.
