im an office worker and also a bit hyperactive person but love my office job. the work is difficult, stretches me and is exciting so the time passes really fast. Sounds like you just need a few more challenges in your day?

I would shoot myself rather than work in an office again. I started out working in a lab, which is perfect for a fidgeter who gets bored easily, lots of walking about. Then I got promoted and was more office-based, but always needed to go visit people, pop into the lab, move around the site a lot. My last job I was only office-based, and although it was only 20 hours a week, they DRAGGED! I just could not stand sitting in one place, it felt like a form of torture. Anyway, since I left that job to look after my kids I've vowed that when I go back to work it'll be in a non-office based role. Preferably one where I have autonomy and can choose my own hours and/or work from home a lot. I've yet to work out what that will be though

I hate working in the office but sometimes it's a neccessary evil (meetings etc.)....I've done the working from home thing and even do a little now and this can be even worse. Back in my days at HP I was working full-time from home. It was great at first, no commute, starting early so I can have a longer lunch (perfect for running) etc. but after a while I started to miss the human integration. As much as I like my own company sometimes it's good just to have the odd 'over the desk' chat about anything.
My ideal world would be a day or two 'wfh' then the rest in the office...

Fleecy - Agree completely. It DOES feel like a form of torture. Especially when no one is talking... I actually feel like just standing on my desk and screaming sometimes. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SODIron - I think if I went freelance though, I would have the best of both worlds i.e. interaction with clients when I go to meet them for briefings and working from home I'm naturally quite a quiet person so I actually like it quiet but just when I'm on my own - not a room full of quiet people!!

I used to work in an office. Then I got married and had 5 kids. I'd stay in the office a little longer if I were you.

Also I think I'm thoroughly crap at 'down time' when people just do sod all because they've been working hard... I can waste as much time as the next person on Fetch/random beauty blogs/news websites/reading Tony Krupicka's blog but there comes a point when I'm like right... this is ridiculous...

I get a lot more done when I work from home than on the mercifully few occasions I have to go into an office. Nobody can insist on stupid "meetings" at home and it's much easier to rearrange the timetable with only me to answer to.
