I've also bought a little flag to carry round the races like Eddie did!

We're staying at Port Orleans, French Quarter at WDW.

We booked our holiday with Virgin, as it was cheaper than Sports Tours were offering.

It isn't cheap, but we are happy to pay for the convenience of being on site and it will be a magical holiday for LMG:-)

Is anyone else bringing the family along to race as well?

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside - is really nice and a lot less hassle on Marathon morning as you can just step onto the bus to Epcot at 3am and they will get you there on time.

I also recommend the Race Retreat as money very well spent, although its not cheap, especially if it is as cold as this year. It also means your OH gets a seat in the Grandstand at the finish! :)

The buses run up to 4 or 4:30am. At Pop Century, there were a load in a row leaving as they were filled (pretty much involved dropping people off and then driving back again for more).
Think I caught one around 4:30am as it was too cold to spend any extra time waiting around.

No there are loads of buses - as soon as one is full the next one comes. They say if you don't get on a bus by 4am they can't guarantee you will get to the start in time.

It is a bit ironic because Epcot is less than a mile from Port Orleans but with all the roads closed it can take ages. At 5am it took Mr Mad & Mini an hour to get to the start, then another hour to get to the Magic Kingdom and another hour back to the finish! Most of it was spent queuing for the monorail.

Some people stay in bed for an extra hour and walk from Port Orleans which Disney try to discourage; you can do it but when you get there you will be walking against the flow of runners walking to the start, if you need to use the bag drop, so I would say do itonly if you don't need to drop a bag, also be careful as you have to cross 6 lanes of duel carriageway in the dark.

That is why the race retreat is so good value, as you can get out of the cold, have breakfast, use their computers to Fetch and even meet Fetchies - thats where I met Stormproof!

I am looking forward to this, we have just booked the races not the other stuff yet. I want to get flights and accomodation sorted ASAP - obviously seen where others have stayed reading the thread but if anyone has any specific reccomendatons, or bits to avoid any advice apprecaited.

If I make it in one piece I'm doing the 5K on the Fri, the 1/2 Sat and then the Full Mara Sun - as Girlie says won't be able to move for the bling (or the sore legs) :-)
