This is a copy of a Facebook post by Winding Paths Virtual Challenges. I plan to do it. Anyone joining me?
Take on our latest Virtual challenge and run or walk the 650 mile "Journey of the Ring" and get this fantastic Medal.
This Virtual challenge sees you in New Zealand, visiting the film locations used in the Lord of the Rings movie, starting at Matamata the location of the Shire, you will recreate the ring bearers journey, the challenge sees you heading south across picturesque landscapes towards Wellington, where you visit Kaitoke Park which is the film location where the Fellowship was formed and the location of the last homely house, heading North-West you head to Waitarere Forest , which saw the ring bearer begin the final part of his journey. The route then leads to the magnificent Mount Ngauruhoe and the stunning climax to your 650 mile challenge.
A Mission Map tracks your progress on the way, it can be synced with strava Garmin, Apple Health and Fitbit, in certain places you can view Street Views or photos along the route.
Will you take on the Journey of the Ring?
The Journey starts on 1st February and you have one year to complete your Journey!
Entries open Friday 15th January at 7pm and are limited to 250 places.

This looks and sounds great- assuming it’s everything logged and not specific set distances set by the organiser? May be the best chance of getting a medal this year but 250 doesn’t sound a great deal

Not quite sure what you mean about set distances, Mackem, but Brian Lewis is pretty responsive, so you might want to check with him on Facebook or via his website.
