Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

That sounds yum, SK, but not enough time, and I'd have to buy courgettes too. At the moment, the shopping list is "basil".

We went to a lovely vegan restaurant last night run by a really nice young couple, so thought I'd just share this

m.facebook.com

As vegetarians, after chatting to the couple last night, we're considering signing up to veganuary (I'd never heard of it before)

I was looking for a vegan restaurant but I see that Trin's recommendation is about 24hrs drive away, so I might give that one a miss.

Lovely lunch today: I made sweet potato pakora pancakes, a Riverford recipe.

Make a batter with 2 tbsps gram flour and 2 tbsps rice flour, 1/2 tbsp garam masala, 1 tsp black onion seeds, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp turmeric and 75g water - you might need to whisk it to get it all incorporated. (I didn't have rice flour so just used all gram flour.) Add 1/2 red onion, sliced, small bunch of coriander, chopped, and 200g sweet potato, grated, plus a good squeeze of lemon juice and salt and pepper. Take a quarter of the mix and add to a large frying pan which has been heated with some neutral oil, flattening it. Repeat to make four pancakes, turning the after 2-3 minutes. Finish in a hot oven for 10-15 minutes.

I made a double batch and had them with some dhal which I made yesterday, making an accidentally vegan lunch. I added 1/4 tsp hot chilli powder too. Even OH liked them and he can't stand sweet potato.

Sounds yum and I think I've got, or can easily access, the ingredients, so I might give this a go, thanks.
