The Cumbria Way Ultra is an excellent event. I supported at it last year. And it does allow personal supporters :)

Thanks IanS and Duchess. shanksi is keen to enter the 50 as well and may run a bit and he's quicker than me walking up the hills so he would be company for a bit of it at least. I'm getting better at running on my own, I did 33 miles of Hardmoors on my own and didn't get lost although I did have to look at Jon Steele's instructions a few times.

V'rap the Cumbria Way Ultra does look great and I am very keen to enter it in 2018.

Good point Duchess, although the Fling is getting much more that way now anyway

Cumbria Way is on my to-do list, as is Lakes in a Day :-)

If you fancy getting a feel for part of the Cumbria Way Ultra course, the Grand Tour of Skiddaw is a few weeks earlier and covers a lot of the north section of the route, some of it in both directions, including what's probably the hardest and wettest bit between Latrigg and High Pike.

St Bega's Ultra at the end of August is another lovely little Cumbrian ultra :)

(I'm officially off ultras this year, but never say never ... )
