And after all that, I missed my 20,000 mile celebration! I accidentally did 4.8 on Tue instead of 4 and it tripped over to 20,001! Oh well, can still celebrate for over 20K! G

I'm on the over 50s thread but I was 2 when 1s changed to 5 new pence! And while the expression for a 50p was "10 bob" to my dad and granddad, there were no crowns, sixpences or thrupenny bits still in circulation in my living memory. Soz! G

Off-thread, but half-crowns were still minted up to 1967 apart from as part of a special pre-decimalisation set of coins in 1970. They ceased to be legal tender in 1970.
Back on thread - I had one of the limited edition sets of pre-decimalisation coins
