I was surprised to see at the recent swimrun that both hand paddles and pull buoys were permitted in that discipline, as I'm (pretty) sure they wouldn't be allowed in a tri? I saw one man using the paddles (but frankly he wasn't a great swimmer) but quite a few people had pullbuoys tucked into a belt round their waist on the runs. |

In the dim and distant past, when I was at the sport tech startup and could blag reading tri magazine websites as 'work', I remember reading that some enterprising chap* was selling special swim run pullbuoys; with two loops of bungee cord through one side so you could attach it to one leg and just twist it round as needed. *actual gender identity of this opportunist gobshite unknown, but we all know it was as chap, don't we |

If he came up with it himself and patented it, Rae, he's probably doing alright as I understand they're quite a popular option on the runswim (Ottilo?) circuit.

That would be the one, @GregP . I'd only heard it talked about on podcast, surprisingly.

Well, once again fuck you. Haven’t really hung out here since then. Seems I’ve only missed much of the same. Probably won’t be around much going forwards. God lick to you all. |

I think it’s to swimrun as Ironman is (or used to be) to triathlon - it has the brand, the glamour, the money and the ability to put on a buttery smooth event. Buddy at Striders’ (Swedish) wife used to hoover up their races like TRO hoovers up Ironmans |
