Yes gutted for Pix😢
Mixed day for me, solid swim, solid controlled bike and running by about 6 hrs 30 mins.
Running pretty well, even though slowing up and looked on for 10:15-10:20. 4 miles to go and the lights went out.
Crawled to the finish from there, with overall time sliding to a bit over 10:30. I was clocked for needing medical attention at the finish, and measured chronically low blood sugar and blood pressure hence the dizzy spells in that last 4 miles.
I will need to try and guess the culprit, going a fraction hard early in the run and run fuelling the most likely. I was definitely carrying some fatigue some 70.3 Staffs as well. Training wise I am probably light on those long runs while fatigued that are key in Iron distance prep. Original plan was to use this as a sighter/training day to plot the last 8 week block into Kona. So I only decided to full gas it after Staffs and the defer Kona decision.
Good to meet up with Frag, sadly missed the special pirate cheer arranged with 3 miles to. I was in that tunnel of pain where I wouldn’t have noticed Concorde taking off in front of me 😂
But I loved it out there. Iron distance racing on the limit takes you to dark places and exposes any weakness. It’s a magnificent challenge.

Yep what they ^^ said.
I've never been able to race on the limit at any distance, always too cautious.
HUGE hugs for Pixar, chin up you're still awesome

My first two IM’s were controlled, paced efforts: Frankfurt (to get sub 12) and Wales (to get sub 12 on THAT course).
After that, I’d have got bored just ticking off completions, so it was time to race them……
