Tinned rice pudding before any big races or super hard training days. Not sure I could deal with it in special needs.

I only use run special needs: in there is jelly babies, red bull, salted peanuts, caffeine gels, flat full sugar coke. Don't use all of these they are 'in case of emergency pull cord' options but usually have 1 or 2 of those things by around lap 3 or 4 of the run.

I'm with you Gobi - I'm not a bit eater or drinker when I'm training. I eat well the day before and that does me.

Ironman is a different kettle of fish. I make sure I eat properly the night before because on the morning I'm usually nervous and can't get much down me. A carton of orange juice is a good thing to have for breakfast if you can't stomach much because it's full of carbs. I normally manage that and a bagel. Then I shove a chocolate milkshake in T1 that I can neck once I'm out of the swim. Then it's sarnies on the bike and whatever is out there on the run - sweets, crisps and fizzy pop

People laugh when I say my favourite pre race food

coffee, OJ, 2 hashbrowns from maccies

number 2

toast and jam, OF, coffee

A long time ago I learned that Milkshake doesn't sit well when I race, when I say learn, I tried the same thing 2 years in a row and was sick on the roadside 2 years in a row.

Learned :¬)

I like the sound of the dates... might try that on a bike ride

Done a run. It was fine. Specifically I think the dodgy calf of 10 days ago is ok now. Seem to have totally buggered up the gears on my bike though cleaning it (!) after the last ride and couldn't book a service until 1st June. So maybe less cycling for a week or two...

What's a BBL?
