Hever completed yesterday. Did manage the whole thing ok by taking it v steady on the bike leg. Spin up the hills and some good descending practice. Clocked 43 mph at one stage  Over 5000' of climbing though
Swim was horrible in a cold, muddy, shallow lake, but luckily was reduced to 1km from 1.9k due to the cold. Was still 13 degrees Greps. Brrr.
Run was very lumpy, but on trails and therefore much more interesting than normal road HM. One to complete rather than worry about time, so a long day out but worthwhile. Legs a bit tired today

Sounds good, apart from the swim. Cold and murky is never pleasant.

Is the run more laps of the Castle course then? That was great in a 'cross country' kind of way, I seem to recall. Glad you got something out of it.

Yes two laps of the Castle course. However someone had the bright idea of running a kids duathlon on the same course inside the Castle grounds, so for that bit we had manic 13yr olds flying past on bikes, which was literally an accident waiting to happen. Not clever, but otherwise the whole thing was very well organised and worked like clockwork in a Covidy sort of way.

Way to go CStar!
The swim sounds unpleasant and the kids on bikes thing seems like lunacy, but you did it!
I would love if there were any events with road bike but trail run here but they seem to only be be both road or both off road.

We've got (had) (will have again) a couple of events like that Rae. Knockburn Sprint and Standard are both OWS, road bike and trail run. Based at our local(ish) swimming loch.
Good events, as it goes.
