I too have run. Still rather frisky out there.

I too have run. I have done my rolling hills threshold session on the treadmill rather than hitting the icy streets, a PB with 6.48 miles covered. I am emotionally scarred from the experience 😔

back to earplugs, as I am a crap swimmer, I tend to breathe to the right, which fills my right ear with water which annoys me for ages afterwards, so I only wear one.
Tonight however, I shall be wearing 2 whilst I try my new AfterShox bone conduction headphones in the pool!

Apologies for this, but I'm sure I read somewhere that this thread has a link to triathlons?
All this talk of ear plugs for swimming has made me start to think again about trying to find a solution to swimming in contact lenses.*
I'm fine swimming without lenses and I have no problem wearing specs to and from the pool. My eyesight isn't so bad that I can't run without lenses, but I wouldn't feel safe jumping on a bike for a triathlon. All the races I've done to date have been pool based, and I've donned prescription sunglasses in transition 1. This has worked ok, but I'm not convinced it would work if* I stepped up from sprint distance, especially if the race is held on a rainy day. I'm not sure putting in gas permeable lenses in transition is a practical solution, so have been pondering on the possibility of swimming in my lenses.
"Normal" goggles are too tight and make me feel like the lenses are going to pop out all the time. Has anyone tried swimming in contact lenses wearing a tri mask? I've tried them on several times in shops and they seem to be a better idea, but not sure what level of leakage to expect. Any feedback would be warmly welcomed.
* Yes, if I don't fatally die training for, and subsequently running the VLMLMLMFloraLM then I'm planning to dust of the lycra this summer.

Blimey Nic - you and greppers going back to the dark side ?
I have no plans after March the 7th although I have also qualified for the AG World Duathlon in September
I ran in shorts, there was ice and wind but it warmed up to a good 3 degrees by about 7am

Before I had laser eye surgery* a decade ago I used to swim in my contact lenses all the time. I used to use AcuVue daily disposables and just wore them under my Zoggs Predators. Always had a spare pair in T1 and another in T2, just in case. I don’t remember ever needing the spares.
* laser surgery ranks amongst the best 5 things I’ve ever done.

I can see (no pun intended) how that might work with disposable daily lenses, but unfortunately I am lumbered with rigid gas permeables that I replace annually. I lost one once in a swimming pool in Portugal, it's a big deal and expensive to boot.

Another vote for triathlons with daily disposable lenses. Don;t bother when in the pool training but OW (for sighting) and all triathlons I whack the daily disposables in and have never had a problem.
Nice darkside mutterings *checks Dorney dates*
