Glenners, we’ve got a mixture of lightweight hike tents made from nylon-type fabrics and traditional green canvas patrol tents. The competition camp we were at last weekend requires use of a traditional patrol tent and dining shelter with all meals cooked on an open wood (altar) fire.
Canvas tents are very robust and won’t instantly melt if hit by sparks from the fire. Downside is that they’re heavy (particularly when wet) and need a lot of space for drying. We like them a lot.

Spare a thought for my mate racing the last ever Forestman over the w/e.
3rd out of the water, 1st off the bike......then swapping the lead with another fella through 11 miles of the run....BOOM!!....final run time 7hrs 16 mins, more than half the field passed him on the last 15 miles of the run. One of the miles took 45 minutes.
Makes my Cozumel blow out look rank amateur.....
He's done around 10 IM's - including 3 x Wales, 1 x Snowdonia Brutal, so not a novice by any stretch.
Needless to say he ain;t happy atm...

No injury by all accounts, mentioned throwing up, collapsing etc although not had the full story.
I think if my Cozumel explosion had happened around 10-11 miles my race would have been similar (except I was never duking it out for the lead).
