I can understand why people aren't happy, still a race but it's not an Ironman anymore is it.

Given that residents are being evacuated, the inconvenience of a race being cut short does seem rather trifling - but I know I'd be fairly upset if I'd been training for a year and at the last minute the event was changed (the swim may even have to cancelled due to blue green algae). It seems a bit rubbish for the organisation not to be offering refunds or maybe deferral for next year or transfer another IM this year that's not sold out yet, as well. It's beyond their control but it's not the fault of the competitors either.
