Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

serious question - would you swim in the morning of starting a new job if you were gonna turn up all wet haired & chloriney smelling?

Yes, and I'd run 500 miles and cycle round the world that morning too.

All depends on the environment, but in general 'no'. Here it would be looked on favourably, mind.

It is an opportunity to set a norm, SW. If you appear as 'just the new girl' then they'll start you off straight away by demanding unpaid overtime and treating you as just another number.

If you appear on day one as, quite clearly, one of those mentalist triathletes from the Hotel Bastardos then they will be expecting random training-related behaviour from the outset. And they'll be scared of you, which is always useful.

thats what i was thinking SB... it is gonna happen next week so why not the 1st day? i know the payroll lady there & she is a bit scary with her training so they will just think im as mad as her & let me get on with it... plus when my planned lunchtime running etc starts then they wont be so bothered

plus my cycle to work plans blah blah... i told them all about my tri stuff in my interview so...???!

I'd say go for it then.

In fact, maybe arrive in a tri-suit and dash into the loos to get changed, whilst yelling "Someone time my transition" to really drive the message home.
